On the trail of the circular economy with Circular Quest in Olten

Olten, August 20, 2024 - The circular economy is more than just recycling - it is a comprehensive concept that aims to conserve scarce raw materials, use products for as long as possible and avoid waste wherever possible. In addition to recycling, there are numerous other strategies that play a crucial role in our economy and our everyday lives. What these are and how they are important for both companies and individuals can be discovered from September 12 in Olten on a scavenger hunt, similar to a Foxtrail. This interactive experience will give vocational trainees, company employees and interested private individuals new perspectives on sustainability and resource conservation.

Guided by an app on their smartphone, participants solve puzzles and get closer to the solution step by step. How long does it take for a drop of water in the Aare to reach the sea? What components are needed to repair a cell phone? With the correct answers, they will find the next post in Olten city center, which relates to the circular economy.

At the end, the participants stand in front of a large wall with exhibits made from recycled materials. They catch a glimpse of the future: if raw materials remain in the cycle, the need for new materials is significantly reduced, which also reduces energy consumption and therefore CO2 emissions.

To mark the launch on 12 September at 4 p.m., the organizers of Circular Quest are inviting all interested parties to a free event at the exhibition venue, Werkhof Olten. In addition to brief inputs on the circular economy from experts, an aperitif will provide an opportunity for in-depth discussions.

Why is CQ important for vocational schools and companies?

Using concrete examples, tradespeople and students discover which strategies the circular economy pursues and which business models can be developed from them. The bridge to their own industry and the development of their own innovative ideas can then take place in the company or in the classroom, with the organizers offering their support if required.

Why is CQ interesting for students and private individuals?

In addition to the production and distribution of sustainable solutions and products, we need informed consumers who help shape them through their demand. Participants use the scavenger hunt to discover the importance of circular resource use and how they can adapt their own consumption patterns accordingly.
