Olten has a new leisure activity: "Circular Quest", a scavenger hunt on the topic of the circular economy. The project was developed by Future Perfect, an association based in Olten that promotes education for sustainable development; it was supported by the Federal Office for the Environment and the Swisslos Fund Solothurn. Olten is the first location for the scavenger hunt and is also a pilot project for the "Circular Quest".
The new service was opened on Thursday in Olten's Werkhof, as detailed in a press release. City Mayor Thomas Marbet emphasized at the event: "Our cities are facing major challenges. The circular economy is an opportunity to tackle these and turn waste into valuable resources." Alongside his city council colleague Marion Rauber, around 60 guests from politics, education and the general public attended the event.
There were also specialist presentations from Anja Christina Siffert from the Federal Office for the Environment, Vanessa Rueber from the clothing company Patagonia and Martin Räber from Future Perfect. After the event, participants were also able to explore an exhibition of circular products - from recycled bags to office furniture.
However, the focus of the event was on "Circular Quest" itself: Project manager Selina Reusser from the Future Perfect association presented the interactive scavenger hunt, "which not only teaches how waste can be avoided, but also shows how we can make our everyday lives sustainable through the conscious use of resources", according to the press release.
The scavenger hunt is aimed at vocational trainees, companies and private individuals, with the latter being able to participate free of charge. Circular Quest" is now available in Olten, starting at the train station. You should allow around two hours for the hunt. (otr)
